Community Engagement

I believe journalism should serve and reflect the community it is covering, and am passionate about helping communities better engage with local news.

I lead ongoing listening sessions across Chicago's LGBTQ+ communities to shape more inclusive coverage and improve our newsroom.

I also co-taught Windy City Times' inaugural "Our Stories, Our Power" cohort teaching storytellers with varying levels of journalism experience how to report on their communities.
